Hiya! I'm Bee. I'm an illustrator, brand designer, and consultant specializing in children's literature (kidlit), restaurant and culinary branding & consulting, and more!

How does being queer inform your work?

Design and illustration are by and large about communication – and inclusivity matters. What are we trying to say and to whom? How can we make visuals more accessible and representative of our communities? These are the questions that I ask myself when embarking on a new project, working with startups, or just strolling around my city. I know what it feels like to be excluded, and I use my experiences – both dysphoric and euphoric – to inform my work.

What are your favorite pieces of queer visual culture?

This is a tough one, but I'd have to say film is a major inspiration of mine. Seeking queer scenarios, joys, and struggles represented really hit home for me. I'd say Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and Portrait de la jeune fille en feu are high on the list!

Which other queer people inspire you?

James Baldwin. YK Hong. Judith Butler. Audre Lorde.
