Hi! My name is Jordan, I am a graphic designer and animator currently based in New York city. I have almost four years experience working as a designer and motion graphics artist professionally in the music industry as well as a legal non profits.

How does being queer inform your work?

Being queer helps inform my design in many ways, especially how it relates to story telling and outside of the box thinking. Growing up and existing in a queer body forces you to see and move throughout the world differently, and I like to think this experience informs almost all decisions I make not only in designs but in my day to day life. I always try to lead with empathy and understanding first. I see the act of designing as something that should be accessible to all.

What are your favorite pieces of queer visual culture?

Right now I really love Jane Schoenbrun for her distinct feeling of nostalgia and striking storytelling. Specifically her recent movie "I Saw the tv Glow" was such a guttural depiction of queerness I have never quite seen on screen before. I resonated and was struck by the visuals in this film deeply.

Which other queer people inspire you?

As a music lover I am really loving Slayyyter for her visuals and her care into every piece of her productions. As well as Lucy Dacus for her storytelling in her lyrics as well as her tour visuals on her most recent tour. Both of these artists (though different in their own rights) both understand the idea of context, storytelling and the importance of detail when portraying strong messages to their fanbases.
